You won't find stodgy classrooms and nondescript hallways at Robert Morris College's Institute of Culinary Arts whose newly constructed, 9,500 square foot facility rivals those of any premier culinary school. The new addition boasts work spaces and teaching stations that feature top-scale culinary equipment alongside contemporary designer surroundings including intelligent LED illumination from Color Kinetics.

Conceptualized by Slick Design and Manufacturing, the Institute's interior leverages approximately 250 iColor® Cove 12” units that lend vibrant color to the space in several applications from the library's color-shifting, backlit acrylic bookshelves, to a glass “image wall” that conceals dry storage space and seemingly glows from within. In each application, the long-life, low-power nature of iColor Cove, coupled with its inherent capability for digital control, proved beneficial to the original design, which called for even distribution of color and color-changing effects without the high maintenance requirements of conventional lighting methods.
