WDM Star Panels are powered with 12v DC and are made of 1″ thick, rigid compressed fiberglass. Panels are wrapped in black acoustic, fire-rated fabric from Guilford of Maine. The reverse of each panel has an integrated LED light source that draws only 2.3W and is daisy-chained from panel-to-panel to distribute power and RS232 data (if connected to an automation system). Twinkle and brightness settings can be set via the hardcoded dipswitches on the illuminator itself. RS232 data will override the dipswitches to allow more granular control.
Star Ceiling Panels are the easiest way to add a star ceiling. There are (2) methods of installation and each requires specific manufacturing:
- If you want to install them into a suspended or grid-type ceiling, order the “DROP IN” type. Panels will be a 1-to-1 replacement for standard 2×2 or 2×4 suspended ceiling panels.
- If you want to mount the panels onto the surface of an existing drywall or wood ceiling, order the “FLUSH” style and we will include Rotofast anchors that invisibly secure and level the panels from the front of the panel (click here for info).

Manufacturing lead time is 3-4 weeks. All panels are made-to-order and can be customized in a variety of ways including higher star density, larger or mixed star sizes, various fabric colors, non-porous vinyl instead of acoustic tile, etc.
