Scheels Arena

Scheels Arena is a multi-purpose venue located in Fargo, North Dakota. It is part of the Sanford Health Athletic Park which comprises the arena, the Family Wellness Center, and the Sanford POWER Athletic Center. The facility is also home to the Fargo Force hockey team.

In 2018 the facility wanted to enhance the gameday experience for their fans. To do this the facility turned to icon HD to implement several technology gameday enhancements. As a part of this icon HD partnered with Wiedamark to deliver a digital lighting experience that would make the ice arena glow.

This solution utilized 196 linear wall washer fixtures as well as a Madrix control system. The flexibility of the control system enables each fixture to operate independently to create breathtaking waves and lighting chase scenes for pregame shows and scoring celebrations.

The Madrix system also has the ability to control all of the other arena bowl lighting giving the show designers the flexibility and ease to create lighting shows that fully immerse the audience in color and captivate them with the flashing of bright sports lights. All of this has helped create the professional gameday feel for this junior hockey team.
