High Performance Mitsubishi Eska Fiber Optic Lighting Cable

High Performance Mitsubishi Eska Fiber Optic Lighting Cable

Mitsubishi’s ESKA™ “POF” Plastic Optical Fiber lighting can be both functional and decorative. Presented as either end-lit or side-lit, it employs the use of individual or bundled fibers as well as fiber optic cabling. Available in a range of fiber bundle sizes and/or shapes with cabling designed-in for specific projects. The cable jacket is manufactured from a high density polyethelene compound material.

Plastic optical fiber has a concentric double-layer structure with a high-purity polymethyl methacrylate (commonly known as PMMA or acrylic) core and a thin layer of specially selected transparent fluorine polymer cladding. The cladding has a lower refractive index than that of the core, so all light launched into the core will be trapped within and will be entirely reflected down the full length of the fiber.

Eska™ Fibers’ overall product characteristics provide many advantages that should be considered when choosing POF.

Mitsubishi SK grade fiber has a much better performance with light attenuation is only less than 0.2dB/M.
Large core-to-cladding ratio and wide light acceptance angle.
Excellent mechanical and environmental properties that produce durability and reliability.
Excellent bending characteristics.
Non-critical alignment of both light sources and fibers.
Excellent solution for long runs especially side glow applications.
